Designing a kawaii brand signature.
One of the hottest culinary stars on social media, Little Miss Bento has gained a large following of fans when she started posting her adorable Japanese bento lunchbox creations and unique deco sushi rolls. The self-taught bento artist is a cookbook author, and she conducts bento classes and workshops occasionally to share her skills. Moonberry™ Digital was tasked to design a logo and a website that would help establish Little Miss Bento as a recognizable brand.
CHALLENGE
Create a logo with kawaii elements that encapsulates Little Miss Bento’s creativity.
SOLUTION
Design a representative brand identity that is playful and tasteful.
SERVICES
Logo Design, Website Design
Design Concept: We created a cute and friendly logo inspired by Little Miss Bento’s adorable creations. The main goal was to bring joy and excitement to Little Miss Bento’s audience of clients and fans. After all, “kawaii” refers to the culture that celebrates all things cute and embraces fictional characters as an embodiment of positivity.
It is essential that the logo design has a balance of fun and elegance, cute but not too child-like. An overly detailed logo with multiple elements can be perceived as a visual disarray so creative moderation and careful design decisions were applied.
Social Media: The new logo and brand elements are applied to key social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to present a cohesive brand look.
Little Miss Bento has published a lot of social posts over the years, and the new logo must not look intrusive or disconnected from the overall content aesthetic that she has worked hard to establish.
Website Design: The strategy for website styling and content is focused on creating an information hub with functional UX/UI practicalities while preserving the sweet and soft visual presentation that Little Miss Bento is known for.
Client Testimonial
As a Singapore-based food artist with an international audience, I require the expertise of someone who understands how to help me convey and communicate “the homegrown pride of a local brand that has gained tremendous momentum and popularity globally”.
Moonberry Digital is serendipitously tailor-made for this task! Design Director Irene has multilingual ability (she can read, write and speak basic Japanese) and from accumulating professional experience overseas, she comprehends how an Asian brand is perceived by an international audience. The Moonberry Digital team understood right away how my brand should be presented and offered great creative direction. As a result, I have received countless compliments from my business colleagues and clients upon the launch of my new logo and redesigned website. I would like to express my greatest thanks for a job well done.
